What do paperboard hangers need to have in order to be appealing to the majority of apparel brands?
There are several types of paper board hangers on the market that are not getting much traction due to either too high price or too low performance. From brand owner (or retailer) point of view - what are the characteristics (price and performance) of paper board hangers that would make them appealing?
Being an ex-retailer and working with them now, I am not sure there is a majority of brands or retailers using paperhangers..... have you assessed the market place - visited tons of low to high end stores and brands to determine if they use them?
The only place I see them is dry cleaners.....
From my experience, they need to be able to hold the weight of garments. So far paper hangers seem limited in this ability and they don't hold up as well as the plastic/ wooden options. Not to mention that a retailer could brand the plastic/wooden ones nicely and re-use them- thus saving money and getting more use out of what they are paying for. The paper ones so far, cannot compete with that.
If I were to purchase paper hangers I would want:
1. durability- they need to be able to hold he garments on the hanger on a rack and hold up to customer use.
2. marketablity- I need to be able to brand them- they need to look less generic crunchy granola
3. price- they need to be able to compete price wise with the plastic/wooden hangers. If they don't then I am not interested.
you answered your question in your description.
Paperboard hangers should be cheaper with same or better performance than traditional plastic/wooden hangers, or at least have possibility to hold minimum weight of clothing. Then they would have selling point. It is all about the price.
there is no other logical answer :)
