What self-publishing platform worked for you?
I am nearly ready to self publish, so I'm looking to hear good and bad experiences with various self-publishing portals. Particularly: price/value, flexibility for quantity, hard cover/soft cover versioning, marketing support, paper/digital sales opportunity, etc. I'm not self-publishing necessarily to make lots of money, although breaking even through sales is a goal. Primarily, I'm looking for the most cost effective marketing tool with a long shelf life.
I have being using Blurb. I can do paper back, hard cover and ebook, the set-up, editing and publishing tools are excellent, the prices are acceptable and they are very flexible, they even get your book in amazon. http://www.blurb.com/user/store/Jacls_photo. Here is an example of one of my books in Amazon, published with blurb, http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1320102816
You can publish your book with only 1 Copy or more...
So far, I've published two Kindle ebooks - both have been a source of only a little revenue but they have been great lead generators and "proof" of my authority. There are many arguments about Amazon, but as Hugh Howey says, "I'm a KDP chump.." https://twitter.com/jycmba/status/581240422711848960
