What should I do to increase traffic on my site?
I want to know some ways on how to increase visitors on my website. I don't know where to start.. I don't even know my targeted potential users. I want to start at a small community like a college or a city. Is it legal to populate my database with random users?
Traffic bots is automatically applications that interprets the work of a human. The traffic bots generate organic traffic. Increase your position in google - http://traffic-bots.com
You could start a blog, talking about subjects related to your website. Blog content usually gets indexed well by search engines, helping your site to rank for long tail keywords. High quality content will also act as link bait for other sites to link to. Or for quick results you can also go for paid traffic from sites like SEoclerks.
Thanks for all the answers. I should really start knowing my target audience first.. Thanks Mr. Jeff Klingberg!! I really find your answer very useful.. And thanks to all the contributors..
Hi Caytano Bula,
Read my article from http://seo-expertz.com/ways-to-increase-website-traffic-webtraffic.html
1st - you should define your target audience
2nd - Buy targeted traffic on demand
3rd - Create a Free Fully Managed Account at http://www.AdMedEx.net and they will send you targeted visitors that are looking in that moment for your product or service
You have to answer some of your own questions first before you can drive traffic to your site.
Caytano,
I googled you, bright side- it was actually you that came up! Then I went to your web-site. To be honest with you, the website is confusing as to what you actually want. I was not sure if you just want people to join, and what is the real purpose of someone giving you their information? That is going to have to be something that people see and understand when they land on your page.
Jeff was VERY right in stating that you have to know your target audience and all of the steps including making a plan are all very important-HOWEVER, you do need to make it clear as to what it is you are wanting out of that site.
From there I think you have received some great advice and training videos. Also check out Gary Vaynerchuk You Tube videos and they should help as well.
Good luck! Blessings!
First of all, you never want to add random users without their permission. It's simply considered spamming and pretty much non-effective, without previous contact. Secondly, to attract target audience, search for smart "keywords" and place PPC (adwords, facebook, etc.,) ads. Plus add Local Directories. SEO and Mobile SEO to solidify the overall equation. direct people from social media to your site by adding value in some way.
put your URL on all advertising: fliers, business cards, social media, videos, blogs, etc.
Visitors is one thing, conversions is another.
What is your product or service?
Who uses it?
Why should they buy it from you, rather than from a competitor?
You have to identify your target market and ideal client profile to be successful.
Hi Caytano,
1) Determine your target group, even if this is a temporary definition.
2) Determine whether you want to spend money or do it without spending money.
3) If you have a budget you can get an agency, and advertise your site with Google Adwords.
4) You can also buy an email list once you know your target group to do email campaigns or
5) Start creating connections through FB, Linkedin Google+, Twitter etc. to then
6) Start writing blogs, articles, white-papers on any topic that may interest your target group.
7) Whatever you do, make sure there is a link (like "read more" or "find out about") to your web-site.
8) Connect with other sites so that when your target group visits another web-site they may find a link there to go to your site.
9) Finally, although this list is by no means complete, you can do videos, photos, in a regular way or viral way that gets people's attention, again with links to your web-site.
Hope this helped.
Good luck!
Hans
Do you have a business plan? What is the site for? I am going to say step back a minute. Every business should have a plan that includes who your target market is and a well-developed marketing strategy on how to reach them and guide them to your website for lead generation and hopefully conversions. You can do this research yourself or hire a marketing consultant. If you have a local entrepreneur center in town, or SCORE, there are a lot of people that offer their services for free, such as marketing, accounting, etc. A good start is researching your competition!
Hi Caytano,
Great question! One of the biggest challenges of marketing is attracting and maintaining an audience. My suggestion to you would be to really determine your target audience then really putting yourself in their shoes. Where do spend their time? From there, looking for partnership and advertising opportunities. Blogging is also a great place to start building your website authority.
I wouldn't recommend adding random names to your database because, more than likely, you will not see the loyal following that I would bet you are looking for.
Also, if you haven't done so already, be sure to add some sort of analytics to your website so you will be able to see how your increased efforts are working.
I hope this helps, but please let me know if you have any questions!
I agree with Giselle. Blogging definitely excites viewers and generates traffic. Another good way is social media and creating a network of other companies or people in your target group.
Caytano,
It's a combination of blogging at least 3x a week and then posting it in social media, as well as being actively engaging your target market on social daily. But I agree with with Jeff Klingberg, you have to clearly identify who your target market is. These videos and article might help:

Caytano ...If you don't know your target audience, you'll never find success. Step 1 is to develop a plan that includes a well-defined target audience description.
Step 2, learn the type of content your target audience wants and needs to make buying decisions. Depending on your target audience definition, you can find a wide variety of research on their buying cycling and informational needs.
Step 3, create content that your target audience wants and communicate with them in the channels they frequent.
Step 4, make sure your site has focus keyword strings associated with the target audience and your content and that your URL slug, H1 tags, page titles and descriptions have the focus keyword string in them.
Thanks Eddy. It's just not digital or online marketing the problem you mention also occur in offline/traditional marketing as well. There are steps to follow for each to achieve success. Furthermore, a company needs to utilize both online and offline strategies and tactics in a comprehensive marketing communications plan.
I absolutely agree with you Jeff. I have put emphasis on digital in my previous comment because of the nature of the initial question. But you are absolutely right. The chain is also broken when it comes to traditional marketing.
Hi Bula,
There were lots of techniques and strategies involved in getting traffic for a website. Most important is picking up a relevant and proper keyword and implement in your on-page correctly. And the second thing is off page how to make your website to reach out to the targeted people by doing submission, posting and running ads.
You can get decent and long term traffic by posting guest and article submissions, forums postings, press release and news letter, profile creations and bookmarking, communities and groups, social medias and ads on - Facebook, twitter and google.
Hi there, great question. In my own experience, I put animated video to increase traffic on my site for my visitor to know me better; also you can use SEO to gain traffic on your site.
What is concerning Jeff that all the questions with regards to websites, blogs and other digital platforms seem to be isolated from the overall marketing strategy. There should be an awareness that Digital Marketing is an integral part of the overall strategy. Companies could potentially rely on Digital Marketing Only (depends on the type of service/product and the audience they want to reach) (your step 1 and 2) is a healthy and practical way to address the necessity and importance of going through the planning phase while (step 3 & 4) showcase essential facts/tools that need to be employed/used to reach and engage the audience in a cost effective manner. It is worrying to see that the digital platforms are being regarded as a mean to help businesses without taking into consideration the essential and imperative steps that lead to success. I like the way you have put the steps. Simple and to the point.
