What should I know about text message marketing?
I have access to hundreds of phone numbers from customers that have been in my pool store from this rewards program (FiveStar). I would like to part ways with the FiveStar service because it is too expensive. However, I would like to use the phone number it has provided me for future text marketing. Only a small amount have opted in for text promotion though fivestar. How should I go about using the phone numbers that I have?
Hey there,
You are welcome to use any popular text messaging service like TextMagic, EzTexting, Slicktexts, etc and upload all the phone numbers you have to your personal account, so you could manage all your SMS marketing from the system.
With the help of text marketing you may do so many things: not only inform your customers on some opportunities but also get their feedback on the delivered services, conduct surveys, send coupons and even more. Texting is probably the most popular way to get in touch with your customer and it still has a great open and response rates.
Here's what you need to know about Text Message Marketing:
Be Strategic. Don't just message people on the list, instead, prepare a strategic plan and find the best time and offer to text about.
Don't Spam. It is obvious but important to be said out loud. Don't overdo. You have access and you wish to use it, perfect do it. But don't annoy people.
Keep It Short and Sweet. Yes! Be as brief as possible. Don't write long stories. Stick to the point and craft a message that is instantly actionable.
According to research, Americans checks their phone every 12 minutes? That’s nearly 80 times per day. So, text message marketing could be great for local, as well as, online businesses who wish to make the most out of their existing customers. It could be a great word-of-mouth tool too if done right.
Since open rates for text messages surpass email open rates, it can be a great way to connect with the people at a more personal level. But be careful with your message draft and frequency.
It's great if you can add them to SMS loyalty program, which will provide a great benefit to the subscribers by joining and getting points/free stuff.
For a capterra text message marketing solution that is easy to implement, reduces execution time, and allows for better data-based decisions, you can find various software at an affordable rate. I personally use for my business the capterra marketing software.
Great question. Since you have rewards system (FiveStar) that already allows your customers to opt-in to receive those text promotions, you would easily be able to import into most text marketing service provider accounts like at MOZO Mobile (http://www.mozoMobile.com) to then start sending out those promotional text campaigns. From there, you can continue to build that list by promoting the text promotions in store with signage, by staff, etc. to grow that program. Text marketing on its own can be a very low-cost form of a loyalty program because you have an existing database of customers who want to hear from you and texting has been proven to boost repeat business when used correctly. Using the current number FiveStar has provided you would be tricky, but MOZO Mobile would allow you text enable an existing local business landline phone number which would allow your business to receive calls and texts from your existing business number. Ex: a customer could text you a photo of a cracked part, etc, to your business number and you can view it in a dashboard and respond to the customer. All of this is a fraction of the cost of expensive loyalty rewards programs and CRMs. Hope this helps.
Why not start your own rewards program. Starting by texting those who have opted-in with a coupon that they can share with a friend.
