What questions should I ask for clarity on individual commission vs. profit sharing compensation?
Our sales team is being offered a restructured commission program that I'm not 100% clear on the structure, and/or what all profit sharing will consist of from a cost, and/or shared cost/gain standpoint. A commission payout to individuals for gross profit invoiced per month up to $150K GP. After reaching $150K GP, compensation changes to 8% from dollar one and now is in a "profit sharing" category. I asked management for a copy of the spreadsheet that we were looking at while discussing. What additional questions need to be asked, and/or points clarified? Shouldn't this proposal have been offered in writing, versus verbally presented?
