What type of business photo should you have on Social Media?
What type of photograph is appropriate to use on social media sites? Should it be professional? Fun? On a holiday/vacation? A team photo?
Or... looking for suggestions.
Bland photograph would not hurt, but inappropriate one can.
It all depends on what social media you are using (LinkedIn != Facebook), and what are you trying to accomplish.
Unless you are in a really really customer-facing business, I would not go for a professional picture - in most cases, in my opinion, it will read as "trying too hard".
All images on social media should reflect the industry you are in and represent the culture of your company. If you are routinely "knotted up." it' might be nice to tone down to business casual to appear more open and social.
It really depends on what business you're in. For example, if you cater to a more corporate audience, your photo should be professional, clean and crisp, business attire. If you cater to let's say the fashion industry, your photo should be more on the creative side. If you cater to families, it might be acceptable to have a picture taken in your home or even with your family. Always keep in mind who are trying to attract. Also, different social media platforms might need different photos. LinkedIn is definitely more professional while FB is more social. Good luck!
The most professional one you have or can have taken of you.
Great question and one which is very much under estimated in most business "brand" development strategies.
If you like most people run a SME, you are your brand and your brand is a reflection of who you are - "Image is important, but presentation is everything"
You have all the answers here.
Good luck and feel free to connect.
I agree with comments here that it depends on your individual market and who you are talking to. However one guideline remains for all industry verticals: DON'T USE A RANDOM SNAPSHOT of yourself with your kids/dog/cat/sport etc. Or my ABSOLUTE WORST, a cropped off shot showing someone's arm around your shoulder. It's just sloppy. Not a professional business tone. Your business photo should ideally represent your professional image!
I also believe you should have a professional 'hero photo' taken by a specialist photographer. It is worth the cost! And, that for consistency that same hero image should be used on ALL your business Social Media platforms, your website, business twitter profile, musaicHUB, Linkedin, etc.
Human brains are hard-wired to recognise faces more than words, so a GREAT QUALITY photo of you used correctly will work to build you as 'the brand'.
My way of thinking is consistency in away that you are 'the brand', so get a good head shot and post it wherever you choose to join in business Social Media!
You as 'the brand' will benefit and improve the chance of making a good first impression – 'cos we only ever get that one chance at a first impression!
It should generally be work related...you will likely want to show yourself in a way that is representative of you and shows you how you would appear when working with them and other clients. Moreover, the quality of the image is just as important, in terms of lighting, pixel resolution and your personal appearance.
It really depends what the company does and how you want to project to your audience. However you always need to take into account that social media is to interact with communities and people are more engage with other people not organisations. I always suggest put in your profile photo
-first: something that says what your company does
-second: people who works in the company if possible
and third, your logo included.
I'm sure you will receive lots of likes, and engagement is what you ultimately will like from your social media pages in order to increase the brand awareness of the company.
