What type of digital marketing strategies should we implement for a startup?
What type of digital marketing strategies should we implement for a startup? We are in the primary stage and do not have much money.
For startups, the easy and practical marketing strategies to improve the business are:
SEO is a free and easy way to rank the website higher in search engines. But you have to follow it in a legit way.
2. Email Marketing:
Emails are still popular to convey your business process to your targeted customers. By sending regular but limited emails containing your business process, offers will help to reach your customers in an organic way.
3. Social Media:
Social Media is a quick path to attain millions of customers. Using this medium smartly will help you to get your customers. A niche-based image wants to be posted regularly to remember your customers about the business.

It would be best if you started with blogging. Blogging is a great way to build your voice, authority, and brand for your niche. You will be able to get your content indexed by Google. This strategy will allow you to attract the right prospects for your business to your website. You can also then post your blog content on your social media. This tactic will also help you build your social media following.
It's a very serious question for startup people.
In my opinion, it depends on the content of the startup business.
The digital content startup needs a different strategy like a viral hack, social engagement, guest posting, etc
The product-based startup will need a paid advertisement marketing strategy.
Although, almost all types of startup needs social marketing and aggressive engagement with the crowd.
It depends on what type of business you have.
If you have a lot of local competitors, then try focusing more on digital marketing rather than going head on and competing with more established businesses.
Find out where your target market is, and focus your marketing campaign there.
In my experience, I've had a better result from small FB ad campaigns rather than Google Ads.
Building your brand is critical and is something that you should be doing from the launch of your startup until you gain customers.
Initially, we need to look to the website on which we are going to start work for digital marketing purpose. Firstly, we need to understand that digital marketing is very vast and broad sector. In digital marketing, many of the tools come under it. There are some techniques which I am going to explain below.
1. Email Marketing - Just find out the data and start sending emails to them.
2. Social Media Marketing - Create creative ads for your business and start boosting the post.
3. Content Marketing - Start doing content marketing by using a paid press release, guest blogging at the lowest cost.
These three are the best way to start Digital marketing at the lowest price. Still, if you have any query regarding this, you can SEO Ninja, USA based company. They will help you out with the best strategy in less time. You can also email them at firstname.lastname@example.org.
So my thought is.. Why sell eggs at the bottom of your driveway, hoping people will drive by, want eggs, and come buy from you, when you can go sell them at the flea market in the middle of town, with 100s of passer buyers, actively shopping.
In other words, my strategy would be to go where your target market is already hanging out versus busting your butt to get them to come to where you are from the jump (your website).
So what I'd do, is go join groups on Facebook and other social sites that match your demographic. Start interacting. When you or others ask target market specific questions, I'd friend and connect with the people who interact with the posts (only people who interact).
If you start building a concentric internal audience based off of your target audience, going after people who specifically INTERACT and ENGAGE - you will quickly build an audience of the right people.
From there- create your OWN group, and put out a post, inviting all of your connects interested in the target market or are looking for cures to specific pain points you solve.
From there, go hard with your group, putting up content 2-3x a day (bulk schedule a week at a time on FB) and ask your members to invite people who are the RIGHT fit.
You then can start pushing group members to your website, by adding links to the group via posting.
I'd concentrate on building SOCIAL communities where your audience is already hanging out on FB, and depending on your business, YouTube second. YouTube is a longer play, but you can build an incredible community and drive a ton of leads/sales. I've built a channel to 1.3m subs, and get hundreds of thousands of free leads every year for example. YouTube also archives the content, so you have videos being found on YouTube, watched, and people visiting your site on automation.
I don't disagree with those saying SEO is good - I just don't think expecting the audience to come find you when we already know where they are hanging out - let's go find them.
I think SEO is the best strategy. But this strategy is not cheap and you need good SEOers and a good copywriter.
Wix is the best option for a startup website. Wix is very user-friendly. You can start your own database (contacts) through Wix and maintain it for a small investment. Publish a newsletter on a regular basis and get a blog going as well.
Search engine optimisation would suit you the best.... do you have a website?
Competitor analysis: Use some tools like - semrush to find keywords for your potential products/services.
Keyword analysis: Find at least 100 keywords to start with.
Content: Collect product data. If it is services then you just need to create write-ups. Create 1500+ writeups on each product/service. If the product doesn't have much content, then use images and video to enhance page quality.
Website: Simple design - find a free WordPress template and implement. Make homepage and most important product or inner pages.
Content optimization: Now, optimize the content - keyword density should be 1% and you should use semantic keywords/phrases.
Make the site live with at least 50+ pages including the homepage. Setup Google webmaster & analytics. Create XML sitemap and upload on the root. Submit to webmaster.
1st Month: Now start promoting the website on different sites - yellow pages, quality directories, press releases.
2nd Month Onwards: SEO - Start building anchor links on keywords: guest posts, article marketing, forums, etc.
3rd Month: Continue the 2nd-month work.
4th Month: Check the keywords rank, SEO typically starts showing results in the 3rd month if things are implemented seriously on time. You should receive a good amount of traffic by the 4th month. Keep monitoring the growth through google analytics and webmaster and keep doing the link building activity.
Precautions: Do not copy content from other websites and do not make bad quality links to your site. Bad quality means from thin sites, check the site DA on Moz tool - the DA should be at least 30.

The benefits of digital marketing are you can start it with ZERO funds. For any start-up, the most critical part is to get publicity, and the best source for it would be social media activities. Try to make some viral content related to your niche segment and promote it with your friends and family.
If you can share your website, I can have a free audit for you and will give my recommendations on your on-page SEO status.
All the best!
There are many ways to promote your business. But some ways fit or not depend on your business type. If you run a local business in Canada, you can advertise your business using Yelp. The Yelpers usually search for local businesses such as restaurants, hotels, car repair stores, dentists through Yelp. On Yelp, people can get helped thanks to the review system. Actually, you can advertise your local business on Yelp for free. But if you want your Yelp business page get more customers, try its paid ads plan. Besides, there are also some proven ways to advertise your business for free here: http://skillonpage.com/advertise-a-business-online-for-free/
If you don't have that much of a budget for your startup then start with SEO, SMO and email marketing. Basically, these are the conventional unpaid strategies that generally are easy and very much affordable but take months to fetch results. We were a startup and followed the same rules. Once the unpaid strategies started paying off, we moved on towards PPC/Adwords.

All the best!!!
Congrats on the new business. Being a business I see the world differently, my question is how long you want this to take to see results. If you have time then digital marketing is the best bet, like SEO, SMM, blogs and social media as you know this method will take three to six months.
If you want to be a little aggressive, I would get a sales team hiring rock stars and depends on your sales cycle pay them a straight commission. Then I would use email marketing and get a call center at a good rate. This way you can see money coming back in ASAP... and you can focus on the low hanging fruit. Then you can put the money in the digital marketing strategies.
Remember there is more than one way to skin a cat...
What seeds are you planting in your business...
If you want to get started in digital marketing then follow my steps-

It would be helpful to know what type of business you are starting because digital marketing will need be geared towards what it is you are offering.
There are great cheap/free services you can use to help your startup.
The first thing to do is network. Finding others that are excited about what it is you offer and spreading word of mouth is extremely helpful. The only problem is this can be limited if you are only networking with people in your demographic area so be sure to find friends everywhere. That would be LinkedIn, Facebook and of course here where you can talk to other business owners.
Try using a free service like MailChimp to create free email campaigns and market to potential or existing customers. Setting up a profile on social media outlets is important yet those take a lot of time and effort to maintain. If you are going to be local like a have a local pet grooming shop this is dynamic in always speaking to your audience. Offer promotions and post them online with links to your website. Tweet them out. Anything you can do to get social media working for you is helpful. Blogs, as mentioned in other answers, are also a great way to get the word out. Create your own blogs and content and ask others related to you to post or boast about your business.
With SEO, SEM and any type of search, I would recommend taking a class to learn how this works. As long as you are working on managing things organically it is of no cost to you. If you do paid ads those can be really expensive. I've set up an account and put $10 in it, bid on a few keywords and saw how it worked just to get an understanding. A full-on SEO campaign will cost you so try and see what you can do locally and organically. There are free courses online for these.
Follow these steps
1. Hire a digital marketer
2. Do proper keyword research
3. Do on-page
4. Continue with off page
5. Write blogs on the business website, 4 per week
6. Do social media manually
Keyword ranking depends on many factors, so continuous white hat digital marketing is required. It all depends on the business nature. If you have a web-related business, there is very tough competition.
Start with SEO to make your website more user and search engine friendly.
Get some quality backlinks from your theme relevant high authority websites. It will help to improve your website presence on Google search results.
Make some social presence through pages likes, followers, and reviews. It will help to build trust and a reputation in the eyes of your customers about your business. That will convert in your future conversions and improve your sales.
Make some quality and unique posts on your website and share them with the help of social media sites.
All this will helpful for a new startup...
First of all, you must know your target audience. Once you have discovered your target audience, plan a campaign that targets customer's pain points.
For example, in today's era there is a scarcity of water and if you do something that can replace water scarcity then it would automatically attract your customers.
Secondarily, you can go to Google's Digital Unlocked Course. It's a free online certified course that will really help you learn to start the business from scratch.
