What's the best way to fully back up my wordpress website/db/plugins/themes so it's easy to restore?
What's the best way to back up everything? themes, plugins, database etc?
Ideally this would be in one file and somewhat automated, but it's ok if it's somewhat manual.
Check out a great service like WPCurve, which also provides maintenance, security updates, etc.
I feel like premium WP hosting providers, such as WPEngine or Flywheel, may offer these services.
I think you should employ some backup WordPress plugins to back up your website completely. So far, the best plug-in that I have come across is BackupBuddy v126.96.36.199 – Back up, restore and move WordPress Plugin which you can check out at http://dailynulled.com/backupbuddy-v5-1-0-7-back-up-restore-and-move-wordpress-plugin/ to get the required tools for the same.
If you have phpMyAdmin installed that is the most complete quick method of doing a full backup of database and site. Check with your ost, you may have it available in the cPanel
The process of backing it up is most important. I doesn't do much good to back it up and try to redeploy only to find no database callouts. Coordinate with the current host and make sure they backup the databases, but also make sure you don't go from server type to another. I.E. Linux server to Microsoft server as this makes the database useless. Otherwise any of the suggestions below are probably sufficient.
Hi Ryan ,
You can use the Backupbuddy wordpress plugin to back up the files at the server/dropbox and use them to restore whenever you want to.
Let me know if you need any help in restoring them.
In the my point of view in the the WordPress platform fully backup facility are almost non- existent .there are huge no. of plugins effectively help you backup your website and prepare any future problems.
1- WordPress EZ Backup
2- WP Complete Backup
and many others you can use for backup.
BackupBuddy. I've used it several times to restore or migrate client's or my own sites and never had to worry. You can backup database or the entire Wp install, send your backup to Dropbox or stash (you get 1GB free space with your license) and restore your site with few clicks. Definitely worths the price.
Definitely the plugin duplicator, it is without a doubt the easiest complete backup solution for wordpress. With it you can not only restore the database, but the file structure as well quickly and easily. Here is a great link for howto use:
The absolute easiest way to backup, manage, and restore your site is by using ManageWP. It does cost money but if it is a single site it will cost $4.50/mo. Purchase the professional plan.
