What's the tech scene like in Canada right now? Which part of Canada right now has all the happenings in the tech and start up scene?
I'm curious about the tech scene in Canada, interested to know what's going on and some of the incubators around Canada.
Vancouver is likely the most vibrant community moving forward.
Hi Harish, the Canadian market is 1/10th of the size of the US market, to give you a reference point.
There is a Tech incubator in Toronto called MaRS. Here is the link
http://www.marsdd.com/. If you want to learn about the Tech scene in Canada, I would suggest following the Tech column in the Financial Post newspaper. Here is the link, http://business.financialpost.com/category/fp-tech-desk/
There are also quite a few tech companies in the Kitchener/Waterloo area of Ontario. (the home of Blackberry). Here is the link: http://www.techvibes.com/company-directory/kitchener-waterloo/tag/startup
and here's the accelerator link for the Waterloo area, http://acceleratorcentre.com/.
The other tech hubs in Canada are probably Vancouver and Halifax. Calgary, Alberta is mainly devoted to the environmental sciences and anything related to the oil and gas industries. Hopefully you have enough information to do some more exploring.
