For us, images/infographics have routinely been the most popular content. In particular, the image on this page really resonated with people:
I think it was related to a few things:
1) The topic of being successful or not strikes a chord with people.
2) The infographic was about being successful yet it misspelt them.
3) People disagreed with some of the premises.
4) The successful section had a silhouette of a woman while the unsuccessful section had a silhouette of a man, which sparked some controversy.
The posts that have received the broadest reach have been ones when we've asked people nostalgic type questions such as "what was your favorite Christmas gift as a child."
Posting relevant and timely digital media articles tends to get more likes and shares. Additionally, any personal achievements or goals posted publicly tend to get some lift.
It's very important make your Facebook page a source of information for people interested in your industry rather than just a page where you try to sell your products and services.
Share news, not just about your company but your industry in general, then take it a step further - provide your insight on the news item and then ASK your followers what they think. Stimulating discussion on your Facebook page can be a huge driver of Likes and Shares..and ultimately lead to new business.
Emotional content on a page that's about a passion, like this post on one of my pages:
Images and videos are by far the most shared and liked content in my experience. People may interact with questions and polls, depending on the brand and community culture.
In general, images and videos get the most shares and likes, so this is a great way to get visibility, because you get shared a lot. This should be the first steps when you start with a fan or company page or group.
There's a Belgian newspaper who posts taglines of articles on Facebook (without images or videos but with a link to their website) and this is also very popular. In the long term, it's important to be relevant and orginal. This will get you loyalty and leads to your website. But don't forget to stay ad rem and attractive. No one likes a boring status update, no matter how you bring it!
I'm glad to share mine. Here it is:
We have been doing with the picture posts constantly and that, we were able to gain number of "Likes(15)" & "Shares (40)". Also, I'd like to bring into the notice that we are a "NEW" page. Besides such an event, we're likely to get considerable likes and shares, and thus we keep ourselves engaged with our customers and the other people.
We are happy to see the response in a short while. Great and thanks for every single person who made this!
Infographics are a sure hit, as is any content from which the reader can take away something of perceived value.
As previously posted, we to use images and content that engages the viewer. Also asking questions has been successful. Consider content that is relative to your expertise. Information is hot and will continue to be.
Anytime we share pictures from a photo shoot or event we get lots of exposure. Being able to tag individuals can expand the reach tremendously. (especially when the person is high profile or well connected)
Generally, photos and video get high engagement on facebook. However it all depends on the nature of your business and the type of content your fans would like to receive. Also with facebook's edgerank algorithm you need to ensure that your content resonates with your fans or else the algorithm will automatically stop showing your posts in the newsfeed of your fans.
The type of content and the best times for posting are things that every facebook page owner needs to be testing constantly and adapt accordingly. Taking my page as an example, a few months ago, I noticed that photos got the highest engagement but recently I have seen more engagement with text only posts.
Good question. Stale content posted on social media results in little interest from the people you want to reach most - potential customers. Facebook content needs to be fresh, upbeat and even humorous. Quick wit in social media has a disarming effect and can appeal to people looking for the kind of products and services you provide. It is important to keep new content coming all the time too and delivering on a consistent message shows people you're serious about your business.
In my social media consulting practice, we utilize a number of proprietary techniques for social media success. Our clients are very pleased once social media starts to deliver new traffic to their company websites.
Event photos and commentary on timely news topics always generate the most interest for FMC.
Whenever I post any content on FB I try to ensure it answers any of these four criteria:
- It helps make life easier for the viewer
- It helps a viewer connect with others and form a bond
- Allows them to share some knowledge to help others
- Defines our identity and beliefs
Internally we use this presentation to define examples of each of the four critieria's. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65g_jeC4OU8
Hope it helps you!
