Is social media or SEO a better marketing campaign for a service business?
We are a small web design and development company since 2010. We want our focus for 2015 to be attracting new clients. For starters, I need to discover what the most valuable marketing avenue is for my company. Should I be spending money and using our resources on social media or SEO campaigns? I'm also open to other suggestions. Thank you.
Well go for guest posting and target keywords in your post and you will get higher rankings in search engine. But it is necessary that GP sites must be of high DA.
Hello Hitesh, realize low cost conversion to digital and online brand presence to internet search buyers who are and will be your largest customer audience segment. Engage the Global Coupon Digital Brand Marketing, Advertising, and Online Media platform for targeted and intelligent customer engagement to B2C & B2B web/tablet/mobile geo-located and targeted audiences for long term brand resonance, social media integration, display advertising to current and future sell-to markets, dominate categories by region etc. Support social impact, and if so inclined, become Individual and/or Business affiliate of the platform to create new revenue streams for yourself or your businesses, while engaging the platform for your products, services, and professional services.
You have been there from 2010.. your website if it had right content should have been giving you enough Organic traffic but i dont see a good alexa ranking and i presume you dont get much traffic.. You are from indore but does it really matter in your meta tags.. you are restricting yourself and also targetting a location which is not gonna give you business.. a bangalore, mumbai would have made sense .. remove Indore from your tags.. Research on keywords before you hit the meta keywords.. i would love to be ranking 1 in keyword like " Best Website Designers" and so would others doing the same job.. So be clever and dont try to gain on very common keywords that others may also attack.. Try Long Tail keywords first and start ranking there and then move up the ladder.. As for Social impact.. I just browsed your site and this clearly gives the advantage of being on Social network.. But dont go for paid services by Facebook but grow organically.. Facebook paid activity is fraud and run by Clickfarms in Nepal,Afghan, Pakistan and vietnam.. Good , unique and original content is always valued and incase you dont have expertise in writing then figure out good writers for you.. Spend money on content
I'd never give an answer to this without knowing more about your business.
As a starting point ask your prospective customers where they look for advice on your service type.
Generally Social Media is used to get information in the buying decision and can be used to funnel the buying decision.
A lot also rests on whether your service business is a complicated buy or not; this has a huge impact on whether you decide to invest in SEOt. as does the number of competitors and how good you can get it or how much you can afford to spend per average sale.
Imagine you were selling your house and were asking "Should I decorate the inside or outside of the house?" Decorating the outside is like your social media activity - this how you attract visitors initially. Decorating inside is your SEO work. This is how you make sure that each page is focused on a particular area.
Both activities work in harmony.
If you are a small company it isn't feasible to do everything at once, so my suggestion would be pick an area of your business and concentrate on that. Create the necessary website pages and then create the content for publishing on social media. Once this is complete move onto another topic.
It would be wiser to invest in SEO given that you are a web design and development company because people tend to search on the web when they want such services.
That said even if you are going for SEO, it would depend on how good you are at executing your campaigns. If I were in your shoes, what I would do is spend some money on Google Adwords.
That would give me some idea of keywords that are getting in leads and converting. Then it would make much more sense to target and invest in those keywords from the SEO perspective.
I think you should consider using both. The combination of pushing your SEO content in front of hundreds, if not thousands through an avenue like social media can be a great strategy. I've found that SEO should be your central focus when relaying information through your social media channels.
My first question; where are you? Do you want to do business locally? If so, the answer may be dependent on how you want to be found. We probably all want to be global service providers, but people who know you, like you, trust you are more likely to do business with you. That is the dichotomy to the answer I'm about to provide here.
With local clients, you have a better opportunity to meet them in person, make a presentation and gain that trust. Search: "Palm Desert SEO expert" and you'll find my links dominate the SERPs for that search term. This means people who search for local service providers will find my website. That is the essence of SEO.
If you don't care where your clients are, then Social Media may be the better answer. Many other factors contribute to your success with Social Media. Personally, I believe that writing articles that are helpful to many people is the best way to show that you know something about your service or product. Give away free information on your blog and provide plenty of links back to your website from the blog article. Then, post links to your blog articles on Social Media. This gives your audience (prospects) many opportunities to find you and by the way, does feed the spiders with SEO juice!
The best thing you can do with web design and development is show your work and tell prospects why working with you is better than working with anyone else.
Personally, I would look for a local company to do my web design. Whenever I've done business with someone who will meet me face-to-face, I get better results. It's slower and is the opposite of the virtual world we inhabit today, but I like working with someone I know and trust.
So, we've come full circle now and you still have to decide how to invest in your marketing effort. Do a search for, "web design [your location]" and see what you find.
Yes, its a best marketing campaign as today's generation is totally depend on world wide web. So with the help of Social media or SEO companies can build a good awareness.
I assume you are selling to business market and are open to international work. If both answers are yes, I would strongly suggest maximizing your SEO campaigns for lead generation. Social media is good to validate your business once lead is live. But getting live leads from the largest pool of prospects is more important- so SEO is first place I would spend money.
SEO leads are better because the people have a purchasing intention. Not the same in social media. But you can bundle both thru remarketing (SEM) ;)
Yes they both important for every type of business same as service marketing ,but now question how well you use it effective use mean success hit the door
Joseph is correct. One is not better than the other. Actually, social signals which is a result of social media participation is one of many factors in driving search engine page rank results.
It doesn't really matter what industry one is in, you need a comprehensive marketing program that incorporates digital and traditional communication channels.
Both play an equal role in working together. Often times they both work as a funnel to get leads and build reputation for your business. Here is more about SEO and Social Media: http://joeygedgaud.com/relationship-social-media-seo/
