Why would a business need a recruitment strategy plan?
Why would you need more than just a resume and a phone call? Or is that method outdated?
What are some examples of recruiting strategies? I want to know how if and how they can lead to growth in business.
Having a recruitment strategy plan allows a business to do the following:
1) Source the best talent and grow your business with promotable people.
2) Reduce employee turnover with proper position placement.
3) Streamline the onboarding process which will allow the candidates to “hit the ground running” when they start.
There are many other advantages to a recruitment strategy plan but there is not one specific plan that works across the board. Each business must tailor their plan according to their business needs/wants and what competition dictates.
If the recruitment is not aligned with your business strategy, it's suboptimal.
Your business strategy defines your focus of action - the market you will concentrate on, the value proposition you bring to the customers (e.g. low-cost product or service/customer delight at all costs / high-end products and service, etc. Depending on the strategy, you should choose the industries and organizations where you should be scouting for talent.
Once a candidate is spotted, the screening, using all the tools available, should also focus on whether the candidate has demonstrated ability that you are looking for, in his recent (last 2-3 years) assignments and also shows the promise to learn new skills as required by a growing company.
If we do not keep in mind all of these while scouting for candidates and screening them, we'll not have the best talent for our business and therefore, the growth will suffer.
