Would combining two websites under one umbrella be a good decision?
Would combining two websites under one umbrella be a good decision, or would such a move be dishonest and misleading to potential advertisers? My mothership website, FifthWheelSt.com hosts a complimentary web-based app at RVtowCheck.com. Both websites are growing in numbers of sessions per month. Neither site has reached the milestone of 25,000 plus sessions per month. I am considering moving the RV Tow Check app under the umbrella of Fifth Wheel St. so that I could combine the number of sessions which will just get me under 25K per month. My goal is to reach 25K+ sessions per month so that it would be more alluring to potential advertisers.
I researched both of those areas and they have all the earmarks of being adequately feasible to where it wouldn't be unusual or conflicting in any way. By and by to the degree the inspiration driving why you need to do this idk. Truth be told today it's more about quality than sum. You could have 1,000,000 hits per month, how does that guarantee them they can get bargains consequently? I've seen TONS of Businesses celebrate from showing up at such accomplishments then seven days afterward caution since they're not making any arrangements. I feel you would be in an ideal circumstance sorting out some way to show them why and how people who go to your site are promising Customers more so than showing them the numbers.
Other than the numbers they'll have to see how you have them niched and composed to know which of those customers may truly be appropriate to them and what you're doing on your completion to put their notification before the right customers. Similar to how you can google ink costs for your HP printer by then go on Facebook and all you find in the right hand area is HP things. Things like that show more a motivation than basically having a great deal of people go to your site.
Why complicate your life? Have ONE website. On the homepage have two doors. One says "click here for XXX", the other the same. Prospects and clients enter and go down their preferred path.
Speaking from experience from one of my clients....he is an osteopath with a location and a practice - he also offers specialized training to RMTs and others on the methods he uses. He had 1 website. But he asked me to do another strictly for his practice. I suggested we have a tab on each website - the tab on the clinic site would re-direct to his training courses, and a tab on the training site re-directing to his clinic site. Each site had different aspects so separate sites with links between worked very well for him. From his Google Analytics Reports we found often that the site traffic from one site would lead to the other.
I took a look at both of those sites and they seem compatible enough to where it wouldn't be out of the ordinary or conflicting in any way. Now as far as the reason why you want to do this...... idk. Believe it or not today it's more about quality than quantity. You could have a million hits a month..... how does that guarantee them they can get sales out of it? I've seen TONS of Businesses celebrate from reaching these types of milestones then a week later panic because they're not making any sales. I feel you would be better off finding a way to show them why and how the people who come to your site are promising Customers more so than showing them the numbers. Besides just the numbers they'll want to see how you have them niched and organized to know which of those customers may actually be relevant to them and what you're doing on your end to put their advertisements in front of the right customers. You are asking the wrong people. Go back and ask the people who already bought from you. Ask them if it would have made sense from their perspective.
Your customers will tell you the answers. Listen to what they say!
1. What make you believe 25000 is the magic number? Namely, not withstanding differing opinions and personal points of view, do you have any proof that your advertisers have expressed this to be a barrier? This is important as this could make a difference as to which advice makes sense.
2. How do you propose to combine these 2 websites? Are you going to use the RVtowCheck.com as a separate section, or a page/tool within your main website?
Personally I can see the tool working well if positioned correctly within your FifthWheelSt.com but you can still keep RVtowCheck.com going in it's own right which gives you 2 bites at the cherry.
If this tool is your own product, I can also see this being a valuable “App” for smartphones. Have you thought about making an App for Android and iOS? This is a niche application that many enthusiast may be prepared to pay for, even if you sold it for couple of dollars at a time, given enough downloads it can mount to sizeable income. You could even give it for free and use paid advertising in the free version and charge for “no Advert” version. Either way you could make money from it.
