Pavilion Construction Assistant at BRIDGE

September 2013 - September 2013
BRIDGE (Building Research and Innovation Deals for the Green Economy) hosts workshops at the University of Brighton for the purposes of researching and experimenting with a sustainable approach to designing with wood and textiles.
During this work I experienced constructing the ash Pavilion built in Woods.
I was involved in design research and model making in July 2013 and continued experimenting and actually building 1:1 scale Pavilion that was exhibited at the Bentley wood fair in September 2013 and at the BRIDGE Circus Event in December2013.

Bench Designer at Valley Gardens Consultation

September 2013 - September 2013
Public Works project for Brighton and Hove City Council Valley Gardens consultation
(5-13th September)
I was involved into1:5 scale model making using the wood and robes,dealing with technical detailing and fixing the materials and structure, also solving health and safety issues. I was developing the idea and constructing own bench design in full size- approx. 3000 x 600 x 450.
Work started from sketching the bench design in studio, then continued in workshop building the prototypes, later developing and finishing the piece of work in woods at Framfield and the whole set of different, very exciting benches, were presented in Valley Gardens between 13-23rd of September 2013.

Student Ambassador/ Student Rep/ Student Helper at University of Brighton

I am currently employed by University of Brighton and involved in three different positions, while studying and I manage time doing multiple tasks.

Student Ambassador - position- gives me a chance to work as link between the university and the outside community. I use my own experiences to give people interested in University of Brighton life an idea of what it is like to be a student. Working for many different Events but mostly I enjoyed working at the University Open Day, at my course department- where I could share my own knowledge/experience about my course and university life.

Student Rep- position - allows me find out about issues impacting on student’s studies and experience, and take this information informally to individual members of staff in the department, and can raise issues more formally at department, school, and university level committees in order to effect positive changes.

Student Helper - position- allows me to take on a practical /hands-on/ approach to work, while studying and I manage time doing multiple tasks. I am getting involved in so many different projects I am experienced and contend in many creative areas such as, building structures, painting studios, decorating, model making and working with community.

Designer at BRIDGE

BRIDGE (Building Research and Innovation Deals for the Green Economy) hosts workshops at the University of Brighton for the purposes of researching and experimenting with a sustainable approach to designing with wood and textiles.Summer Workshop helped me to explore the possibilities of construction in wood.I was involved in design and building process of a temporary pavilion using locally grown ash, to be exhibited at the Bentley wood fair in September2013 and at the BRIDGE Circus Event in December2013.

Helped in the setting up of spaces and installations ready to be opened to the public. Working as part of a skilled team and general help for set up of events.
Had the opportunity to create the space and furniture for the venue and be part of the team to install and maintain it all, as well as help during and after the party.

Architectural Intern at Rwanda Youth Information Community Organisation

This project, I was working from Brighton University for a project based in Rwanda.
I was required to assist the Architecture Lecturer at the University.
This work helped to develop my architectural thinking in placing the facilities on the provided land.

Intern at Brighton Waste House at Mears Group PLC

June 2013 - September 2013
Sustainability and better environmental issues are among the top aspects in today's Architecture.
During this project, I had the opportunity to build the roof, fix trusses, fill insulation by using the waste materials.
It was very useful to see how the building was built in real life not only digitally using CAD software.

Student Helper at University of Brighton

May 2013 - June 2013
I was helping in construction of Degree Show Pavilion. It took three weeks to build the whole structure and only two and half days to take apart.
This work experience helped me to gain many skills in how to build a structure from the ground up.
This project gave me so much confidence to use many different construction tool, i.e, circular saws,drills. Also, be precise and accurate.

Architectural Assistant at Atmos Ltd

June 2012 - July 2012
This Project -GLOBAL FEAST 2012 was based in London on the Olympics 2012.
My responsibilities in Atmos were to assist the architects in 2D/3D digital modelling, using Microstation and Global Research related to the project.
Through out this job I developed my time management skills, my problem solving skills and learnt to work under pressure without letting it effect the quality of work being produced.
