Business Description

Let's face it. People are busy and easily distracted.

Which means that, if you want to grow your business, you'll need a concise, memorable answer to the most dreaded question in all of business networking:

"What do you do?"

Answer well and they'll engage in a conversation.

Answer well and they'll ask for more information.

Answer well and they'll follow up with you the next day.

Answer badly, on the other hand, and "It was nice to meet you" will be the last you ever hear from them.

Whether you are just starting out or have been networking for years, we'll show you how to get better results from your current networking efforts.

Profile Questions

What do you like most about your profession?

I love watching people's eyes light up as they share their passion for what they do.

What questions do clients most commonly ask you? How do you respond?

The most common question is whether you need a different Elevator Pitch for different audiences. You don't. The reason people keep using a different Elevator Pitch is that they aren't happy with the results. Once you develop an Elevator Pitch that brings you 3-5 leads every time you use it, you'll want to use it all the time and everywhere.

Describe a recent client engagement or project.

I ran my flagship 5-week Becoming a Trusted Advisor webinar series. We went step by step through the five skills of the trusted advisor, and shared practical tips and techniques for developing a strong referral network.

What are 3 attributes you need to be successful in your industry?

Business Experience Sales Experience Leadership role in a networking environment

What are the most important things to consider when hiring a service provider in your field?

What percentage of their work do they get from their Elevator Pitch / Business Networking? Do they use a practical, hands-on approach?

How are you different than others in your profession?

Almost everyone who does marketing is willing to help with an Elevator Pitch. I'm the only one I know who focuses exclusively on helping people improve their Elevator Pitch.

What are your biggest professional influences (books, mentors, events)?

"Lead the Field" Earl Nightingale "The Go-Giver" Bob Burg, John David Mann "The Greatest Salesman in the World" Og Mandino

How do you typically handle disagreements with clients?

I offer a 100% customer satisfaction guarantee. Your Elevator Pitch has to be authentically you, and you have to love it if you're going to use it. I ask my clients to be honest with me. Because there are infinite ways to describe their work, so if they don't like the direction we're heading, just tell me and we'll find an approach that feels more like you.

Describe your proudest professional accomplishment.

I publish a weekly Elevator Pitch Tips email newsletter to a list of over 4,000 people.

I'm attending an event tonight. Quick! What's my Elevator Pitch?

The best way to introduce yourself to a room full of people (you know, when you go around the room and everyone has 30-40 seconds to talk to the group) is to share a recent client success. Say "I offer a broad range of services, so let me share a recent client success. I was working with a..." This approach encourages people to bring you leads that are most like your best customers.
