Profile Questions

What do you like most about your profession?

I love working with people everyday and helping them succeed by doing things the right way. It is always fun seeing the smiles on people's faces when they are able to put more money in their pocket everyday and are happy that I was able to make their lives easier.

What questions do clients most commonly ask you? How do you respond?

What is the cost is the most common question. The truth is that consulting is a business by business evaluation. I cannot say how much anything will cost until I have a chance to discuss the business with the business owner and understand their direction. My fees are way below the industry average as I like to make sure I am able to help the business success within a reasonable cost to them. How do you know you can help is another question I get asked a lot. I know that I can help because I have been through a lot within the realm of my own business ownership and past management jobs, along with acquiring a Master's Degree in Business Management and Strategies. I know what it takes to succeed and my real enjoyment comes from helping others succeed and avoid making common mistakes within business development, management and start-ups.

Describe a recent client engagement or project.

I have recently worked with a customer to help write a business plan to help get funding for growth opportunities. My business plan writing skills have been honed through the years because of constant work on my own businesses and practice through education. I know what people are looking for within the investor market. This particular project was exciting because it was in the tech industry in which I personally didn't have a lot of experience, but I know how to research, interview and use that information to build a business plan. It was a fun project and I am still working with that business today to continue their growth.

What are 3 attributes you need to be successful in your industry?

Understanding of the business processes is probably the most important attribute. Business activity is relatively similar from business to business and most successful businesses follow a pattern of good habits that allow them to become more and more successful. Believing in what you are doing is so very important to the growth of any business. If you do not believe you will be successful, then it will be difficult to become exactly that. You are the leader as the business owner. It is important to believe in what you are doing and filter that down to your employees. Hard work is the other attribute that is vital to growth and success in any industry. You have to put your heart and soul into the business for a long time, then you will start to see success. Although, finding the right company to help you get there, is important too.

What are the most important things to consider when hiring a service provider in your field?

The most important things to consider are do they have real-world experience, do you have a good relationship with them after your initial conversation, cost, and do you believe they can help you succeed.

How are you different than others in your profession?

I am different because I have real world business experience and understanding. It is not just about learning, it is about owning businesses and knowing what takes place.

What are your biggest professional influences (books, mentors, events)?

The Social Network movie has always been a big motivational movie for me. It shows the struggles of a start-up, the internal battles for direction and the ultimate survival of the business. This movie dictates very well how a slip in direction could have produced something different and the world would have to live without Facebook. I believe in reading books from my MBA classes to better understand perspectives for strategies and growth as well.

How do you typically handle disagreements with clients?

I am a very easy going person. My goal is to make sure that the clients are happy and I will do whatever it takes to ensure that happens.

Describe your proudest professional accomplishment.

I am most proud of building my first business over 8 years ago. It was a cleaning company and we grew it fast and sold it for profit. I am very proud to have started my career that way.
