Innovator with a proven track record of technology implementation spanning the entire implementation lifecycle: from design/development, through implementation/integration, and resulting in successful fielding of customer-focused solutions.
Proven successes in organizations that spanning multiple operating sites and have global reach . My primary focus is designing and supporting services that provision leading-edge IT capabilities to my customers, and doing so in a manner than drives a government IT organization emulate a private-sector organization as closely as the law and regulatory requirements allow.
My team and I provide quality services at a reasonable cost for the best customers in the world. We seek to constantly evaluate the services we provide in the spirit of continuous improvement.
What do you like most about your profession?
I work for the U.S. Army, a part of the Department of Defense. My organization supports activities that provide needed materials to the U.S. soldier. That is a rare and humbling opportunity. On my good days, I support the U.S. warfighter and aid in the defense of our nation. On my bad days, I don't. I don't have many bad days.
What questions do clients most commonly ask you? How do you respond?
Most questions are directed at either "why do you take so long to accomplish 'x'?" or "why do your rules prevent me from doing 'y'?" In the first case, I explain our initiatives to improve efficiency. Due to funding constraints, wringing every efficiency you can find out of processes is the only enduring way to improve the pace at which you get things done. In the second case, I strive to develop a team of professionals that are conditioned to "get to yes." I am the only one authorized to say "no"... and there had better be a darn good reason (such as a legal restriction) backing *my* "no".
How are you different than others in your profession?
I'd rather listen than talk, but when I do talk... I like to be heard. Communication is a loop that requires all parties to be engaged and willing to go on mute to allow others to convey their understanding to us.
