I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit. I started my first business when I was 15 years old creating and selling layout codes for Myspace and other popular social media platforms. I quickly acquired an online reputation on Myspace as well as on Melodramatic and other journal sites. After Stickam and Facebook arose I started really focusing on Social Media marketing and learning how to use social media to generate revenue properly and gain internet traffic. I've been performing great results in freelance Social Media Marketing and Search Engine Optimization for the past 5 years. I also have a background in traditional marketing, pay-per-click advertising with multiple marketing companies, search engine marketing, search optimization, social media marketing campaigns and advertising campaigns (including facebook, twitter, tumblr, flickr, youtube, linkedin, pinterest, etc.), copy writing, leadership skills, management, and more.

I have been helping medium sized businesses to large businesses generate leads, sales tactics and dominating search engine rankings for the last 3 years. What do you like most about your profession?

That depends on which profession. I am currently in internet marketing. I have been in internet marketing for a little over 10 years. So, I guess we can stick with that one since my research in nanotechnology and artificial intelligence are recent. I like being able to help businesses by providing them with a service they may not necessarily understand. SEO & Social Media Marketing are not easy feats. It takes a long time to become an expert in either or both fields. There is no degree plan for SEO, so it's something you have to do on your own to get good at it.

What questions do clients most commonly ask you? How do you respond?

The most common question I receive is "Why do I need SEO?" The answer is simple. If you want to connect with specific demographics that want your products or services, you need to be on search engines. There are more people on Google every day than there are driving the streets in your city. Think of Google as a road with 3.5 billion people on it and your rankings on Google is your store.

Describe a recent client engagement or project.

I will use a Social Media client as this example. A new music App called Flo Music came to me last year looking for social marketing. They did not even have a Facebook yet. In just a few short months, we got them over 20,000 people on Twitter, over 15,000 on Facebook, and more followers on other social platforms. Very successful campaign.

What are 3 attributes you need to be successful in your industry?

Knowledge - You must know what you're doing. You have to be able to look at a problem with a website, strategy, plan, etc. and dissect it from the inside out to find the best plan of action. You should be able to look at a business and create a marketing plan for them according to what their services are, and who you need to target. Sales Ability - Knowledge helps with this quite a bit. When you speak with a potential client, they should be able to see your excitement to work on their site and how much you know. Patience - SEO & Social Media Marketing are ever changing. You should do research every day, even if you do consider yourself an expert. Sometimes it can get tedious (onsite SEO on a site with 4,000 pages that need to be optimized), but you should do things properly for every client.

What are the most important things to consider when hiring a service provider in your field?

There are many important factors when hiring someone to do SEO. First, make sure they're the ones actually doing it. Many people just do sales and outsource their SEO to India or Turkey. You don't want someone who does this. Having the budget is very important. SEO doesn't come cheap. It's not easy work and it can help your company generate more revenue. If someone is telling you they will do your SEO for $200 a month, you're not going to be getting much out of that. So you need to weigh out your goals with your budget. Figure out what you want out of an SEO company and ask that company questions to see if they can accommodate. I would also look into that company. If they are an SEO company and you can't find them easily on Google, that's probably a bad sign. Make sure the company doesn't have any complaints about them (at least valid complaints) before you hire them.

How are you different than others in your profession?

I have been doing this a long time. Much longer than most people I meet. The difference between them and me though is that I can look at things from an outside perspective and quickly identify the best strategic approach moving forward. I am not only into internet marketing. I'm working on my PhD in Nanotechnology and Artificial Intelligence. My goals in life are to help the world as a whole, not just what I'm currently doing. Not many people in SEO can say that.

How do you typically handle disagreements with clients?

I am always a professional person. I will do what I have to do to make my clients happy, even if that means letting them go as a client.
