BullGuard is slightly different from other small business antivirus software we reviewed because it is designed for home users. If you work from home, you can configure both parts of your online life, keeping your business and your personal life safe. Considering that many small business owners use their own personal devices, this software is a good option for someone looking for an all-inclusive product.

BullGuard

The Best Internet Security and Antivirus Software of 2019

The Verdict

This is a solid choice for antivirus software if you are working from home or using your home/family computer to run your business. It has features that work for both worlds. However, this software is specifically designed for one computer, so it isn't a good option if you have multiple devices.

You don't need advanced IT knowledge to run this software: It was exceptionally easy to install with no complications, taking just 10 minutes from start to finish. Configuring the software is also very easy because it features a simple user interface. The interface has helpful icons and a simple layout to select actions like scanning your computer or setting up web filtering.

BullGuard Premium Protection has features you'd expect to see on a home or family computer, but these features easily translate to the business world. For example, the software has parental control, not something you'd likely see in the office, but parental control is the same thing as web filtering. All you're doing is blocking websites based on their content category. Your employer probably does the same thing to block access to content they don't want you accessing at work. Many of these features are beneficial for a small business, such as the software's identity protection and social media protection features. As a small business, you're probably trying to grow your social media presence, but you want to stay protected, so these advanced features can help guard your reputation both personally and professionally.

A host of features, combined with high test scores, makes this software stand out from other antivirus software. The theory is, if you're going to protect your computer, protect as much of it as you can. BullGuard Premium Protection has email filtering, a firewall, internet protection (beyond content filtering), online backup for secure or important files and PC tune up, which allows you to clean out your device. These are only a few of the features supported by this software, all of which are easy to manage.

BullGuard also has high scores for protection and performance from AV-TEST, meaning it's going to protect you from malicious threats and malware without slowing down your computer. The downside to Premium Protection is that it isn't designed to manage multiple devices: It's only designed to work from one computer to another. What that means is if you expand your business outside your home device, you won't be able to manage all your devices from one console. You'll need to individually configure each device.

Considering the software's one-to-one mentality, you'd think you could buy one license, but licenses start at a minimum of three and go up from there. In today's world that really isn't such a big deal because your spouse or kids probably have their own computers, so you can secure their computers as well as your own.

All in all, BullGuard Premium Protection is among the best small business antivirus software available as long as you are running one or two devices and not managing a network.
