We evaluated fortune3’s Gold plan for eCommerce software. This software is fairly easy to use from a website hosting point of view; though, it earned the lowest cart and checkout ease of use score out of all of the companies in our review. Still, this platform offers many of the features we looked for in our eCommerce software review.
The fortune3 Gold plan offers unlimited storage and bandwidth with a product limit of 1,000. It charges a monthly subscription fee, though there are no setup or transaction fees. Remember that you’ll likely need to pay a transaction fee to your payment gateway for processing credit cards through your site.
Building an eCommerce website with fortune3 doesn’t require any coding experience; however, you can use an HTML or CSS editor if you choose to. You cannot edit directly on the preview of your site, though it’s easy to change text and images inside the website builder platform. Adding products is also straightforward. You can choose from over 20 free templates for your site or purchase a premium template. The templates are customizable, but you may need to understand how to use the CSS editor if you want to change everything.
There is no built-in blog available for your website. You can, however, integrate with a WordPress account. No CDN (Content Delivery Network) is available either, which could slow down your website for some of your users. fortune3 also pushes your site live even while you’re building it, which can be a problem since your customers can potentially see your site before it’s ready.
This eCommerce platform can work with over 45 payment gateways. It can also integrate with online stores like Amazon and eBay if you want to sell your products or services through those channels as well as with your online store. You can translate your online store into languages other than English, which can help you reach a larger client base.
We tested this software from a customer point-of-view and evaluated the process for checking out with this service. fortune3 earned the lowest score for this across our review. While a PayPal option is available, your customers cannot check out as a guest. Additionally, the fortune3 sites we evaluated did not resize to mobile screens easily, which made it harder to check out via mobile device.
Upon signing up for service with fortune3, you receive a welcome email with login details and 24/7 support details, though you’re only given information to a general support line instead of to a personal account manager. Live chat is available on fortune3’s website, or you can peruse an online knowledgebase, which may have answers to your questions.
There is no fraud detection service available with fortune3, and no built-in POS system is available. However, you can create an unlimited number of email accounts with this service. A dedicated 256-bit SSL certificate is included with the Gold plan as well, which helps you keep your and your customers’ information safe.
fortune3’s website building platform is easy to use; however, in our testing, we found it more difficult to check out from a customer’s point of view due to its sites not resizing automatically on mobile devices. This software also has fewer of the features we looked for in our review of the best eCommerce software, though what it does offer is solid, with a dedicated SSL certificate, unlimited email accounts, and unlimited storage and bandwidth.
