ISONAS bills itself as “pure-IP” access control for your business. Eliminating the use of a hard-wired control panel in favor of a network-enabled system, ISONAS makes its access control system simple to install and use.
Very little hardware is needed to get your ISONAS system up and running. Door readers connect to your business’s network and are powered through Ethernet cable. ISONAS also sells hardware to convert older systems into IP systems that are compatible with their Pure IP software suite.
ISONAS offers its door readers in two varieties: proximity card-only or keypad and card. The company does not have a biometric reader or mobile phone option. The readers themselves are intelligent and store most of the data for the system, allowing them to make authentication decisions and open doors even if the network is down. ISONAS allows you to use third-party credentials with its system, but it offers its own proprietary version of cards and key fobs, as well.
Where ISONAS comes up short is a lack of certain safety integrations. A fire and hold-up alarm are missing, which limits the capabilities of the system’s lockdown feature. The system does give you the ability to immediately void credentials if an employee leaves the company or any misuse is detected.
The system’s report interface is accessible through a web browser on any device with an internet connection, including laptops, tablets and smartphones. The interface gives detailed reports on unlock times, credential usage and suspicious events. You can also set up an anti-passback system to require employees to use an exit reader, so you can see when they enter and leave. While a separate video management system can be integrated with the IP system, it does not integrate into ISONAS’ own platform.
We received quick and informative customer service when we contacted this company. The only drawback is a lack live chat support and video training tutorials.
ISONAS is a solid example of IP-based access control, with a decent offering of features. While it lacks several features that other IP and control panel access control companies have as standards, including biometric readers and some safety alarms, the hardware-light service is a good choice for a system that’s quick and easy to install. ISONAS provides a solution that requires little upkeep or experience to use.
