Jintronix is a unique telemedicine service designed for physical therapists. It allows patients to practice clinically designed rehabilitation exercises from just about anywhere, and therapists can view a patient's progress from anywhere as well. The system utilizes Microsoft's Kinect motion sensor bar. Patients engage in a series of games for their physical therapy exercise. The program tracks the patient's progress, which is automatically uploaded to the platform so the physical therapist can then view and evaluate the patient's progress.
This specialty telemedicine platform allows physical therapists to help some patients who suffer from neurological afflictions such as stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's and traumatic brain injury and may be homebound. It can also be used by individuals recovering from surgery or those who experience problems with chronic pain, coordination, muscle strength and flexibility. For elderly patients who are prone to falls, the program can be used to assist with balance and mobility.
The telemedicine program is easy to set up. It uses Microsoft Kinect to connect to a mini-computer on top of a television. Kinect tracks upper and lower motor function. Patients perform a series of activities while Kinect tracks their movements. Patients don't need to wear any sensors. There are a few optional hardware pieces, such as weights and bands, which are required for some exercises though.
This telemedicine application can be implemented in a patient's home or at a designated rehabilitation clinic. As the physical therapist, you create a program from more than 100 exercises and games. As the patient completes the regimen you've designed, results are automatically sent to you, with graphs demonstrating a patient's progress and areas where further work may be needed.
This program can be supplemented with in-person rehabilitation sessions, giving patients more ways to exercise both at your office and in the comfort and privacy of their home. Both therapist and patient are given real-time results. As the therapist, you can view results and update the program anywhere there's an internet connection over your computer or smart device.
You can increase the difficulty level of individual exercises. You'll also be able to see if your patient is complying with prescribed exercises, or if he or she is even doing them at all. You can also send personalized feedback to patients through the platform.
Jintronix is a telemedicine platform that allows physical therapists to supplement their patients' rehabilitation program while also freeing up time to see additional patients. For therapists with long-distance patients whom they infrequently see in person, Jintronix allows them to assign exercises and monitor a patient's progress to help him or her reach a level of functionality in their mobility and health.
