With a tagline like “All small business accounting software sucks, we just suck the least,” you should expect LessAccounting’s product to be simple and easy to use. This is mostly the case, as this company’s accounting software features a design that can simplify the otherwise tedious and harder-to-perform accounting tasks that you have do on a daily basis. With a focus on serving small businesses, LessAccounting has created a product that easily manages your bookkeeping needs.
The setup process for your business profile mirrors many of the other services, but we could have used more guidance, like video tutorials or tips. When you first start using the software, you may get a little confused at times due to the lack of guided options, especially if this is the first time you’ve ever used cloud-based accounting software. LessAccounting doesn’t offer any kind of mobile app for phones or tables, but you can still access your dashboard from a mobile browser, although you may have some trouble doing so. It’s nice having access through your mobile browser, but the process can sometimes be difficult and unreliable.
Within the interface, you can perform a whole host of basic accounting tasks, such as tracking expenses and mileage, creating invoices and quotes, and accepting payments from clients. These basic tasks are easy to do, but a few of these processes lack some of the advanced customization options that other online accounting software offer. When you start to add clients and vendors, you may experience some navigational problems that can cause confusion. Namely, having to scroll down through a page on a cloud-based interface may get a little frustrating. This is especially true if you think you finished the form and then find out that you’re still missing a bit of required information.
You can purchase one of three versions of LessAccounting’s bookkeeping software: Freelancers, Small Businesses or Big Businesses. The company separates these packages by how much money your business spends each month, and the higher-priced versions allow you to track more expenses better.
Support for LessAccounting only comes through phone and email support channels. When we called and emailed, we were mostly pleased with the answers to the questions we asked. The support representatives were professional, and we didn’t have to wait too long to receive those answers. LessAccounting has a basic knowledgebase on its support website, but we were disappointed with the lack of user forums.
Accounting can be stressful, and LessAccounting has created a software that can simplify those tedious tasks for first-time accounting software users. Even though this software is a very basic addition among the services we tested, it still helps you do what you need to do to ensure you get paid.
