Mad Mimi is extremely simplistic, which appeals to many marketers. This email marketing software application doesn't provide templates or advanced features, such as basic contact management functions. But providing a simple-to-use dashboard that creates professional-looking emails has a niche audience, enough to get noticed by GoDaddy, which purchased Mad Mimi in 2014.
Mad Mimi is priced low. It supports lists of up to 10,000 contacts for only $42 per month and offers large plans that support up to 350,000. Small businesses can send out emails to 5,000 customers for only $27 per month. While the basic plan does not include a long feature list, you can easily add certain functions. For example, you can add additional users, web forms, drip campaigns and social links just by turning them on through your account dashboard. Some additions are free and others come with a small additional monthly fee.
We found Mad Mimi to be simple to use but limited in its capabilities compared to other email marketing software applications. For example, it doesn't provide templates, but you can easily create your own. You can also contract with Mad Mimi to have them create a customized template for you. We also could not readily find a way to import our own HTML email so that may be in issue if you want to import your own designs. If this is your intention, you may want to contact Mad Mimi to see if there is a workaround.
We also discovered the contact management features were basic. It tracks names and email addresses, but it doesn't support custom fields nor does it allow you to segment your contacts into different groups. By comparison, most email services provide simple contact management features – even the free plans.
As mentioned, this newsletter software application is simple to use, and all of the test emails we sent to our list of contacts was able to reach the inbox, even Gmail inboxes. However, this service is not for those looking for a range of options both in terms of email formatting and list management.
Mad Mimi reaches inboxes and that alone says something about how well it can format and send emails. You do not need be a graphic designer or understand HTML to use this email software. It is also low priced, even for businesses with long email lists. However, if you need more advanced options, you may want to consider one of our higher-ranked products.
