> Human Resources

MMC HR is a comprehensive HR provider. It offers a full range of payroll, benefits and HR outsourcing features. You can also enroll in training, risk management and other HR-related services, like HR audits. As a human resource outsourcing (HRO) provider, MMC HR can manage all of the administrative tasks related to your business while you can focus on running your company and making the most of day-to-day operations.

The Best HR Outsourcing Services of 2020

The Verdict

MMC HR is a reputable company with a wide range of services. While it has a complete offering, it isn't reviewed by the Better Business Bureau, which is an important detail to keep in mind as you search for the right partner.

MMC HR is not rated by the Better Business Bureau, and it's not an accredited business. It's also important to keep in mind that your ability to use MMC HR's services may depend on what state you're in. HR-related laws on labor and employment change drastically from state to state. Large HRO providers are able to handle these complicated differences. MMC HR may operate nationally, but ask an MMC HR representative about your specific situation, as some smaller HRO providers only operate in certain regions and states.

Pricing and Terms

Much like several other HRO providers, MMC HR doesn't list official pricing or plan information online. HRO services are tailored to each specific business and vary depending on what services you need for your business. Many professional employer organizations (PEOs) offer bundled services. HROs tend to be more a-la-carte-based, although they can also offer bundled services. MMC HR lists the bundles they offer, which can be viewed here.

Be sure to make this distinction when working with your sales team, so you can get a better idea of how MMC HR structures their services. Regardless, staying flexible and partnering with a company where you can add and remove services where you see fit is important. A good company won't lock you into long-term deals and will provide you with the services you need.

Many HRO companies double as PEOs, which are organizations that provide similar services but under a different contract structure. MMC HR is not a PEO and, instead, identifies itself as an HRO company on its About page. Many companies will offer HRO services for very small businesses and then scale their clients into PEO packages as they grow.

If you're a small business owner looking for this option, you'd be better off exploring companies that offer both HRO and PEO services. One benefit to HRO services, however, is the differing contract structure: There's no co-employment model to follow. This can add flexibility with services and contract lengths. Always ask HRO companies about their services, contract lengths and agreement structure before joining.

Customer Service

MMC HR is one of the few companies we evaluated that provides a dedicated account and HR specialist. You'll work directly with the same representative regarding any questions or concerns that come up with your services. It also means you can use this representative for support as you institute new services, like training programs.

By having a designated specialist to help you with your services, you're getting hands-on attention from a reputable company. Some HRO services exist only as plug-and-play software offerings. By providing a human element, MMC HR is providing useful services.

While MMC HR offers exemplary services, it is not rated by the Better Business Bureau and is also not accredited. This is surprising since MMC HR has been in business in California for decades, according to its BBB profile page. While it's not ideal that MMC HR isn't reviewed on BBB, the rating agency isn't the end-all-be-all judgment of business services. Consider your interactions with MMC HR, and decide if it's the right fit for you.

MMC HR's biggest limitation is that it isn't rated on BBB. Most of the companies we reviewed at least have some kind of letter grade, or are accredited by the rating agency. While this is not a major limitation, it's something to keep in mind as you search for the right service for your business.
