SalesVu is an Austin, Texas, company that refers to its cloud-based iPad POS system as an all-in-one business management solution. This modular system can be configured to suit many business types, such as retail, restaurants, beauty and wellness, professional services, wineries, and health clubs. In addition to modules for POS functions, it offers them for ancillary services such as accounting, scheduling and marketing. SalesVu can be used by businesses of all sizes and is scalable, so you can add registers or locations to it as your business grows. It doesn't require you to sign a lengthy contract, allows you to choose from a list of payment processors and is compatible with third-party hardware.

The Best iPad POS Systems

The Verdict

SalesVu is a great customizable iPad POS system, though it may be one of the pricier options, depending on the number of modules you add to it.

Instead of offering a few pricing plans like most of the systems we reviewed, SalesVu offers a selection of modules so you can customize this iPad POS system to your liking, paying only for the feature sets you add. Bundles are also available, though you can add modules to customize these as well. Most modules, including the base POS module for retail, restaurant and mobile, costs $25 per month. Basic bundles cost $75 per month, and advanced bundles cost $150 per month. Most basic bundles include the base POS module, employee scheduling, accounting and bookkeeping, and incoming order management. In addition to these modules, most advanced bundles include inventory management, the kiosk app, customer management and marketing. Although being able to pick and choose modules may save you money if you don't require extensive features, it can get expensive if you do.

SalesVu provides its iPad POS software on a month-to-month basis, allowing you to move on at any time without incurring cancellation fees. It also allows you to add or remove modules from your system at any time, which is useful if you want to try out a new module or if there's one you find you don't use. SalesVu is transparent with its pricing; it posts the pricing online for both its individual modules and bundles, giving you a clear picture of what you can expect to spend on this system.

You have three choices of payment processors with this system: Vantiv, Worldpay and EVO. Although this is a more limited selection than most, you can call and compare pricing before making your choice. SalesVu is compatible with third-party POS hardware; specifically, it works with any iPad, APC cash drawers, and Star and Bluetooth printers. This may save you money if you already own POS equipment or want to shop around for a deal.

SalesVu's base POS module includes reporting tools, with sales reports for time of day that help you determine your busiest and slowest times so you can staff your business accordingly. It also shows you sales reports by product or service that you can use to see your best- and worst-performing products or services. You can export your report data in the CSV format.

If you need tools for inventory management, you'll need to add a module for it to your system. With this module, you can set low-inventory thresholds and receive alerts when items dip below the set level. You can also use it to manage your vendors' information and place purchase orders.

Using SalesVu's Web Store and Facebook Store module, you can offer online ordering to you customers through a hosted website. If you already have a website, you can add SalesVu's ecommerce widget to connect it to the POS system. You can add the kiosk app module if you want your customers to be able to place their own orders and check out using an iPad.

You can contact customer support by phone 24/7, and remote assistance is available if you experience an issue with this iPad POS software. The company can help you install the system and transfer your data from your old system as well. If you need to connect this iPad POS system with business programs you already have in place, APIs are available.

SalesVu is a capable, customizable iPad POS system. It can be used by businesses of all sizes and many different industries, and it doesn't lock you in with a long-term contract. It gives you a choice of payment processor and works with third-party hardware, which may save you money. It offers many modules, including ones for ancillary services such as marketing and scheduling, and you can add and remove them as desired. However, this system may get expensive, depending on the number of modules you add.
