Sfax has the standard features we looked for in our evaluation of online fax services, and it also adds a level of security to the documents you fax that isn't available in other services. This service has the usual functions, including the options to send faxes to multiple recipients, receive mobile alerts and create customized cover pages; but it excels in its HIPAA compliance and security measures for sending sensitive data online.
Most fax services use email to send faxes, but standard email is one of the least secure ways to transfer sensitive information. Sfax prioritizes security, so it has many methods to support HIPAA compliance. If you work in healthcare in any way, this is a must. This service uses physical, technical and procedural methods to secure data, making it safer than using a traditional fax machine in some cases. When you receive a fax, you'll be alerted via email. However, since email is not secure, you'll only receive a notice that you have a fax. To see the fax itself, you need to log in to your online Sfax portal.
You can keep your current number when you switch to Sfax, which will be less confusing for your clients. When sending out official documents, you can sign your faxes electronically. This can save money on ink and paper. Sfax is versatile and supports many file types. It only stores your faxes for one year, however, which is less than some plans in our lineup.
Sfax's mobile app is one of the easiest to use out of our review, and it's available on both Apple and Android devices. You can receive mobile alerts when new faxes come in, and viewing, tracking and sending faxes with the app is simple.
The service offers many plans available to meet various business needs. We reviewed the Standard plan, which allows 350 pages per month. This is lower than some of the other allotments in our review, at a higher cost than any of the other faxing plans we evaluated at $29 a month. Any pages you send or receive beyond the 350 cost 10 cents each. If you fax more frequently than this, you may need to sign up for a more expensive plan.
Customer support representatives are available by email and phone, though not by live chat. When we reached out to Sfax, our questions were answered fully, and the company followed up with us the next day to be sure all of our problems were taken care of.
Sfax is the online fax service to use if you're in the medical industry, thanks to its security measures to ensure HIPAA compliance. It has an excellent, easy-to-use app and nearly all of the features we looked for in a fax service. Keep in mind that it is the most expensive service in our review, however.
