SimpliSafe Review

SimpliSafe is an easy-to-use business security system that can be set up in under an hour. After that, it protects every inch of your property 24/7 with emergency dispatch and instant alerts for break-ins, power outages, leaks and dangerous temperature changes. With this system, you no longer have to worry about whether your business is safe. However, it lacks many of the access control features we looked for.

The Best Access Control Systems of 2021

The Verdict

SimpliSafe is a security system for home and business that's easy to set up and use, and reasonably priced. It's light on access control features, though.

Pricing

SimpliSafe offers four security packages that you can choose from based on the size of your home or business. These packages are broken down below:

The Essentials

  • $207 with monitoring plan, $259 for hardware only
  • Includes base station, three entry sensors, motion sensor and keypad

The Hearth

  • $299 with monitoring plan, $374 for hardware only
  • Includes base station, three entry sensors, smoke detector, motion sensor, keypad, key fob and siren

The Knox

  • $359 with monitoring plan, $449 for hardware only
  • Includes base station, six entry sensors, smoke detector, keypad, two motion sensors, key fob and siren

The Haven

  • $391 with monitoring plan, $489 for hardware only
  • Includes base station, four entry sensors, panic button, smoke detector, keypad, two motion sensors, freeze sensor, key fob, siren and water sensor

You can also design a custom security system and purchase extra sensors if you need them. SimpliSafe doesn't require any contracts and offers the option of 24/7 monitoring.

Features

With SimpliSafe, you can choose the type of monitoring you want. Options include sensors for doors and windows, motion detectors, freeze and water sensors, and HD security cameras. The system is easy to set up: It arrives ready to go, and it can be set up in under an hour, with no professional installation required. It's also easy to use. Securing your property takes seconds with a key fob or keypad, and employees can also use a unique PIN code to enter the building when a manager isn't there.

Here are more of SimpliSafe's notable features:

  • Mobile management. With interactive monitoring, you can use your mobile device to arm and disarm your system, view and manage alerts, and access your surveillance cameras.

  • Long-range sensors. SimpliSafe's small entry sensors are built with long-range microsensors, which are tiny sensors that can sense entry from far away.

  • Signal-burst technology. Because long-range sensors can waste power and kill batteries, SimpliSafe created sensors with signal-burst technology that provides long-range coverage while conserving power.

  • Power outage protection. The SimpliSafe system has a backup battery that keeps your system running for 24 hours in the event of a power outage.

  • Smash resistance. SimpliSafe will send you an alert if the keypad or cameras are smashed or damaged.

  • 24/7 monitoring. SimpliSafe offers 24/7 monitoring as part of its security packages, which means it will respond to an incident no matter what time it occurs.

  • Signal encryption. All of SimpliSafe's security products are encrypted, keeping your data and signals safe and secure.

  • Disaster monitoring. SimpliSafe has six monitoring centers, which means that there is no single point of failure and your business is always protected.

  • Alert confirmation. SimpliSafe will send an alarm signal until the monitoring center confirms the signal has been received, letting you know that your emergency is being dealt with.

  • Emergency alerts. The package sends instant alerts for break-ins, power outages, leaks and potentially dangerous temperature changes.

  • Open-window alerts. With your entry sensor, you can receive alerts if you've left a window or door open.

Pros

SimpliSafe offers a thoughtfully designed, easy-to-use, budget-friendly security system that makes it easy for small businesses to secure their facilities. The packages are reasonably priced for different sizes of business, and the hardware is built to last and simple to set up on your own.

Cons

While SimpliSafe is an excellent security system, it has little to offer in the way of access control. The only features it offers specifically to control access to your building are keypads, key fobs and entry sensors. The focus of the company is more on home security than business access control.

Customer Support

You can reach SimpliSafe by phone or email. Additionally, its online resource center allows you to find answers to your questions about the system on your own.
