Zip Schedules is easy-to-use employee scheduling software that offers the basic features for scheduling and strong performance when it comes to communicating with employees. It can work in multiple languages, send messages via email or mobile, and foster communication between employees and managers for shift planning. However, it only offers a few reports and requires a separate app for clocking in and out, which is less convenient than some of the other systems on our lineup.
The administrator features, while limited, are easy to use. You can create, publish and send schedules via your desktop or smartphone. Employees can view schedules on their computer or mobile app and offer their shifts to co-workers if they have a conflict. Co-workers can ask for the shift, and the manager is notified to make the final decision. However, this work schedule maker requires a separate app, Zip Clock, to clock in and out, whereas other programs in our review offer this function in a one-stop scheduling solution.
Reporting is another weak spot of this employee schedule maker. It only creates four different kinds of reports, and the specific types of reports we looked for (labor cost and attendance reports) are only available separate from the program. This work schedule software does not integrate with QuickBooks or ADP, the most common payroll and accounting software, so you will have to manually transfer data.
Zip Schedules offers excellent customer support. The how-to videos explain the features well, plus there are FAQs, a community forum and live demos available. If you need specific help and can’t find the answer, you can contact representatives via email, live chat or phone.
Zip Schedules performed well in our hands-on tests. Employees will have no trouble viewing their schedules or requesting time off, and managers will have little hassle managing everyone's schedules. However, the weak reporting functions of this software place it lower on our lineup.
