Remote working isn’t anything new. Many businesses have been leveraging the power of remote workers for years. Other companies have replaced some in-house hires with freelance workers who operate from anywhere where they can have an uninterrupted internet connection. But with this year’s shift toward an almost entirely remote workforce, many businesses are struggling to find the best strategies and tools for managing a fully remote team.
With change on this global scale, it’s impossible to keep holding onto the traditional way of interacting with employees. As a result, managers are frantically searching for the right technology solutions that can allow them to run a virtual office with the same efficiency as a physical one.
To help, 18 members of YEC discuss the innovative software they use to interact with and manage their teams, and why these apps are suitable for any company facing the challenges of today’s digital workforce.
“I love 15Five because it allows me to get input from every single person on our 55-person content marketing team on a weekly basis. “We use BambooHR, a human resources platform, to manage and check in on our team. There’s a neat interface where you get to see who’s on leave and who’s celebrating a birthday or a work anniversary. “We’ve just transitioned our remote team to ClickUp and the change has been night and day. It’s great for the organization and integrates with GitLab, which is great for project management. On top of that, there are a variety of views and automations that can be used on the platform. “We use Skype – it is the best software so far for us to communicate with our remote team. We have created chat groups on Skype for sales and technical teams. We can message the team anytime, congratulate team members on their birthdays, share life events and talk about work. Group video calls are very easy to do, and there is no fee for this service.
