Why We Chose Deel for Global Payments

Deel offers various HR solutions for employers with international operations. We were particularly impressed by Deel’s global payments features ― not many PEOs we reviewed offer global payroll. Deel can help you replace an internal HR department, set up workers in new countries, and pay contractors and employees in multiple currencies. The platform acts as a centralized payroll system where you can view and manage all worker payments from one source. In contrast, other providers may have you jumping among systems and services to monitor payroll. We also like that Deel provides global payroll reports and analytics.

We were impressed by Deel’s unique benefits tool that helps you decide which employee benefits to offer a worker based on location. The feature is valuable as employers expand their talent pools in different regions. For all those reasons and more, Deel is our choice for the best PEO for global payments.

A PEO can make international expansion painless for your business by handling payroll, foreign tax and employment regulations, and staff benefits.

Ease of Use

Deel offers several plans and add-on resources to help clients customize the service to meet their needs. We like that Deel offers localized support to help you stay legally compliant across multiple countries and jurisdictions. During our testing and analysis, we were pleased with Deel’s user-friendly platform. We like that it offers a centralized location for employers to view and manage worker payments globally — a necessity for businesses with international operations. We found it easy to access and work with Deel’s global analytics features and customizable dashboard. We also appreciated Deel’s benefits tool, which can help employers understand what employee benefits they should offer employees in various locations.

Deel Features

Since Deel offers several HR plans and add-on options, the specific PEO services you can access will depend on your selections. Here’s a look at some of our favorite Deel features that make it an especially ideal solution for global payments.

Global Payroll and Taxes

We like that Deel makes it easy to pay employees and contractors across more than 150 countries. You can view and manage all payments from a centralized platform and set up automated invoicing and payments. We were impressed that if you need help navigating local payroll or setting up an entity, Deel’s in-house payroll experts can assist you. We were especially pleased that Deel offers salary and tax payments (where applicable) and local filing with authorities. Few PEO services we reviewed offered that level of global support.

Deel’s contractor payment options are also notable. The company allows for more than 15 client funding options and nine withdrawal options for contractors, including physical contractor cards. If contractors must amend their contracts, they can do so seamlessly within the Deel platform, with updates automatically reflected in your payroll system. That level of contractor management is impressive; some PEO competitors we reviewed didn’t provide any contractor management services.

Deel’s mobile app is a great addition to its payroll capabilities. Available in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, the Deel mobile app lets users perform payroll functions such as managing time off and payments, tracking invoices and withdrawals, receiving payment notifications, and accessing tax forms and documents.

Employee Benefits

We were pleased to see how fast Deel makes the onboarding process, regardless of where your employees or contractors are located. A significant part of onboarding is ensuring your employees can access and manage their benefits with ease. Knowing what benefits you should (or must) offer employees in various countries can be challenging, but Deel simplifies the process.

We were impressed by Deel’s unique global benefits tool. During testing, we found it intuitive and easy to navigate. You enter a country and select the type of benefits you want: statutory, common or competitive. The tool generates a list of benefits based on your selections, along with brief descriptions. We also found it helpful that Deel explains where and how each benefit is offered, such as through the government, a third party or Deel. The platform also helps employers compare benefits options and supports benefits enrollment for employees. The tool is valuable for global employers, and we didn’t see a comparable feature offered by other providers we evaluated.

Legal Risk and Compliance

Deel does an excellent job helping companies maintain HR compliance across multiple countries and jurisdictions. It offers location-specific, compliance-focused onboarding, document collection and offboarding, while continuously monitoring regulatory changes and flagging potential compliance risks before they become problems. We also like that it provides localized employment contracts and documents for contractors and employees, along with country-specific compliance guidance, as well as additional services such as background checks and visa support — features many PEOs don’t offer.

Deel AI

We were impressed that Deel includes its AI assistant with every product at no additional cost. Instead of searching through help articles or contacting support, users can ask questions about payroll, HR policies, local employment laws and compliance requirements in natural language.

During testing, we also liked that Deel AI could provide contextual insights based on your organization’s HR data, including payroll trends, workforce metrics and compensation information. If the assistant can’t answer a question, Deel connects users with one of its support specialists, so you aren’t left without help.

HR Management

We were pleased to see that Deel offers a human resources information system (HRIS) with its platform. During testing, we found it easy to store employee records, organize HR documents and manage onboarding from a centralized dashboard. Deel also includes features such as an employee directory, time-off tracking, workflow automation and organizational charts, giving businesses many of the core HR tools they need without purchasing separate software.

We were especially impressed that the HRIS integrates seamlessly with Deel’s payroll, benefits and compliance tools. For businesses managing international teams, having employee information, payroll and compliance data in one place can simplify everyday HR tasks and reduce administrative work.

Deel's HRIS dashboard displaying employee records, worker types, onboarding statuses, countries and workforce management filters within the People module.

Deel Pricing

Unlike many PEO providers that bundle services into a handful of plans, Deel prices most of its products individually, allowing businesses to pay only for the services they need. Whether you’re hiring contractors, employing workers through an employer of record (EOR), running global payroll or using Deel’s HR platform, you can mix and match products to create a solution that fits your business.

Here are a few additional pricing considerations:

  • Deel’s pricing is highly customizable: Rather than paying for one bundled plan, businesses can purchase individual products or combine services based on their hiring and HR needs. This flexibility makes Deel a good fit for companies that expect to scale over time.
  • No long-term contract is required: Deel generally offers month-to-month pricing, allowing businesses to add or remove products as their workforce and HR needs evolve.
  • Promotions may be available: Deel occasionally offers discounts and other incentives for new customers. Check the company’s website or ask a sales representative whether any current promotions apply to your business.
  • There’s no free trial: Deel doesn’t offer a free trial (which isn’t unusual in the PEO space), but prospective customers can schedule a personalized demo to explore the platform and determine which products best fit their needs before purchasing.
Did You Know?Did you know
Deel's EOR services are valuable when expanding to countries where you don't have a legal entity. In contrast, standard PEO services use a co-employment model, requiring you to have a locally registered entity in the country where you have employees.

Implementation and Onboarding

Deel offers several products and a wide range of add-on options, so we recommend working with a Deel representative to build a solution tailored to your business’s hiring and HR needs. The implementation period typically ranges from one to three months, depending on the products you purchase and the complexity of your organization. This timeline is comparable to that of other PEO providers we reviewed.

We also like that Deel integrates with more than 170 business applications, including many of the best accounting software, HR platforms and productivity tools. The platform also offers a custom application programming interface (API) for businesses with more advanced integration needs. While adding integrations may extend your implementation timeline, they can help streamline payroll, HR and workforce management over the long term.

Customer Support

We found Deel’s customer support to be well-suited for businesses with international teams. In addition to offering around-the-clock assistance, the company provides AI-powered support and one of the most comprehensive collections of HR and global hiring resources we encountered during our research. Here’s what you should know:

  • Support is available 24/7 in more than 50 languages: Customers can access Deel’s in-app Communication Center to start live chats, manage support cases and get help whenever they need it, regardless of their time zone.
  • AI helps speed up support: Deel uses AI to answer routine questions and direct more complex issues to human support representatives, helping businesses get answers more quickly while ensuring specialized questions receive personalized assistance.
  • The self-service resources are exceptional: Beyond its searchable help center, Deel offers an extensive library of global hiring guides, webinars, HR templates, a global employment glossary and a hiring toolkit with calculators, salary insights, visa eligibility tools and other resources to help employers navigate international hiring and workforce management.

Limitations

While we were impressed with Deel’s global payroll, HR and compliance capabilities, no PEO is perfect. Here are a few drawbacks to consider before choosing Deel.

  • May be more than some small businesses need: Deel’s platform is designed for businesses managing global employees, contractors and compliance. Companies with only local employees or straightforward HR needs may find its extensive feature set more robust than necessary. If you’re looking for a simpler HR outsourcing solution, check out our review of Justworks PEO.
  • Limited phone support: Deel primarily provides customer support through its in-app Communication Center, live chat and online resources, though phone support may be available to some clients. Note that Justworks offers 24/7 support via phone, email, in-platform chat and Slack. Additionally, as our TriNet review notes, this provider offers phone support during standard hours as well as 24/7 live web chat and email.
  • Pricing can be difficult to estimate: Although Deel publishes starting prices for many of its products, its modular pricing structure and optional add-ons can make it difficult to estimate your total monthly cost without speaking to a sales representative.
  • Not ESAC accredited: Deel is not accredited by the Employer Services Assurance Corporation (ESAC). While this doesn’t necessarily reflect the quality of its services, we generally prefer PEO providers that have earned this accreditation because it demonstrates compliance with established financial and operational standards. If ESAC accreditation is important to your business, read our review of ADP TotalSource to learn about an accredited alternative.
FYIDid you know
If your hiring process involves bringing on employees or contractors in multiple countries, keeping payroll, onboarding and compliance in one place can make managing your workforce much easier.

Methodology

We researched and analyzed dozens of the best PEO service providers to identify the top PEOs and help businesses choose the right PEO service for their needs. We looked at pricing, contract requirements, bundled vs. a la carte features, minimum requirements, employee benefits administration, time-tracking tools, payroll processing and taxes, administrative HR functions, talent management features, integrations, legal risk and compliance assistance, accreditations, and customer support.

We also watched product videos and participated in product demos whenever possible. For this review, we placed particular emphasis on global payroll processing, international hiring and compliance support, ease of use, customer service and educational resources, since these are the areas where Deel differentiates itself from many traditional PEO providers.

Deel FAQs

Deel is an HR platform that helps businesses hire, pay and manage international workforces. The platform includes HR tools to support employees and contractors in more than 150 countries and process payroll in more than 120 currencies. Deel can also assist with background checks, immigration services and global compliance.
Yes. If you use Deel to manage your U.S. workforce, the platform can generate and file tax forms such as Form 1099-NEC for contractors and Form W-2 for employees. Deel also helps businesses comply with federal, state and local payroll tax requirements by calculating withholdings and filing payroll taxes with the appropriate authorities, including the IRS.

Bottom Line

We recommend Deel for…

  • Companies hiring employees or contractors in multiple countries.
  • Businesses that need global payroll and compliance support.
  • Organizations that want to manage international HR, payroll and workforce data from a single platform.
  • Growing startups and established enterprises expanding their global workforce.

We don’t recommend Deel for…

  • Businesses that only hire locally and need a simple PEO solution.
  • Businesses that require an ESAC-accredited PEO.
  • Companies seeking an HR platform with more advanced performance management features included.
